El motu proprio Traditionis custodes (16 de Julio de 2021) revisa enprofundidad las normas relativas al uso del misal de 1962 en la Iglesia latina, enparticular las disposiciones del motu proprio Summorum pontificum (7 de Julio de2007) y la instrucción Universae Ecclesiae (30 de abril de 2011). Este articulo evocael estatuto jurídico del rito romano antiguo, ahora de nuevo sometido al indulto,y marco canónico propuesto a los grupos que celebran esta liturgia. Desde ahí,toca varias cuestiones que quedan no resueltas en este día: la facultad deadministrar los sacramentos usando los libros anteriores a la reforma de 1970,la posibilidad de celebrar la misa exclusivamente según el Vetus Ordo, laformacion del clero para el rito antiguo, la situación particular de la Fraternidad San Pio X. Este aporte invita a proseguir el debate sobre todos esos temas a laluz del canon 214 y de los principios fundamentales de la unidad católica.
