Abstract
Quality is a concern for human societies when they think and manage their living environment. This paper discusses the idea that the notion of aesthetic quality would actually go through a redefinition. Quality would no more be strictly defined as a property of an object and / or a subject, as understood in the Cartesian paradigm. Under the influence of a relational thought of thinking, it would be defined as a characteristic of the relationships that humans tie among each others as well as with their living environment. In order to illustrate this idea, we will use social debates arising around wind farms projects, usually presented as sustainable development strategies. We will take a closer look at the aesthetic quality of these emerging landscapes, an important theme of the debates. At first, we will bring up the idea that there is a «material violence» inherent in the object of the wind tower that shakes the principles of action traditionally used in landscape work. The notion de «co-visibility» will then be use to illustrate emerging practices. Finally, we will discuss new ways by which private and public actors are now considering their roles in the planning of such major projects. / L'idée de qualité, préoccupation des sociétés humaines lorsqu'elles pensent et aménagent leur environnement, serait en cours de redéfinition. Elle ne serait plus strictement considérée comme une propriété d'un objet et / ou d'un sujet, dans le cadre du paradigme cartésien. Sous l'influence d'un mode de pensée relationnel, elle serait de plus en plus conçue comme une propriété des relations que les hommes nouent simultanément entre eux et avec leur environnement. Nous prenons comme exemple les contestations sociales accompagnant l'expansion de la filière énergétique éolienne, dans lesquelles la qualité esthétique est un thème central porté par la notion de « paysage ».
