Abstract
Cet article est consacré à l’étude de chansons patriotiques françaises destinées à être entonnées par les enfants ayant grandi tandis que la Première Guerre mondiale faisait rage. Les comptines analysées, tirées de recueils parus en 1915 et en 1916, attestent d’une volonté d’embrigader l’enfance et d’imprégner les jeunes d’un discours propagandiste manichéen, volontiers violent, rappelant que la France sortira victorieuse du conflit qu’elle mène au nom de la Civilisation contre la Barbarie. Si l’étude détaillée de ces chansons permet de révéler les « stratégies » poétique et rhétorique mises en place par leur auteur – lesquelles sont d’ailleurs très similaires à celles qui peuvent être observées dans les chansons pour adultes –, elle révèle aussi qu’il arrive à ces comptines d’ébranler la doxa militariste.
