Abstract
Nessa revisão discuto a contribuição do trabalho de Carpenedo (2022) para dois importantes temas, o desenvolvimento do filossemitismo no sul global e agência feminina. Além disso, através do estudo desses dois temas, argumento que a autora colabora para o entendimento do atual quadro político e social do Brasil. Muitos brasileiros e pessoas atentas ao que ocorre na sociedade brasileira tem se perguntando como elementos do judaísmo, pessoas ligadas a essa tradição, e causas políticas do Estado de Israel passaram a ser tão caros para uma ampla parcela dos cristãos brasileiros? Esse judaísmo admirado inclui todos os judeus? Quais são as expectativas articuladas através dessa admiração? Por que a bandeira de Israel tremula em manifestações pró Bolsonaro? A questão por trás de todas essas é como e por que o filossemitismo tem crescido no sul global? Aqui essa reflexão ocorre através de um grupo que, apesar de a maioria de seus integrantes possuírem um passado pentecostal, se encontra em processo de conversão, no qual adota práticas e busca reconhecimento como judeu, enquanto acreditam que Jesus seria o messias enviado a esse povo. Nesse sentido, no momento em que é pesquisado, os sujeitos estudados passam por uma de mudança do seu enquadramento ético. Notavelmente, a autora também investiga o que agência feminina significa durante esse processo transitório.
