Influência de variáveis climáticas no fluxo de ciclistas em Belo Horizonte

Abstract
Muitos são os fatores que determinam a escolha de uma pessoa em utilizar ou não a bicicleta. Esses fatores podem estar relacionados às características socioeconômicas do indivíduo e às caraterísticas do ambiente, como o clima. O impacto do clima no ciclismo pode ser complexo uma vez que os fatores relacionados ao conforto podem ter um peso importante na decisão de usar a bicicleta e os ciclistas estão completamente expostos às intempéries. Diante disso, o trabalho se propôs a analisar as principais variáveis climáticas que influenciam no fluxo de ciclistas em Belo Horizonte. As variáveis testadas foram temperatura, umidade, precipitação e nebulosidade. As variáveis que apresentaram melhor resultado para explicar variabilidade no fluxo de ciclistas foram umidade e precipitação. O modelo encontrou um alto poder explicativo para a variável umidade, em que a disposição para pedalar aumenta conforme a umidade relativa do ar cresce entre 30% e 50%. O modelo também sugere que a variável chuva é significante onde para cada acréscimo de 1mm de chuva há uma queda 0,75% no número de ciclistas. Este trabalho destaca a importância de o poder público considerar as variáveis climáticas nos processos de planejamento urbano e de construção de políticas públicas de mobilidade.
