Cet article présente les résultats d’enquêtes semi directives conduites en presence, dans la ville de Toulouse avant le COVID. Il a pour objectif d’envisager les tiers-lieux et espaces coworking comme objet de la production urbaine dont la nature hybride permet et induit une pluralité de fonctions. La flexibilité d’usage des tiers-lieux et espaces de coworking en fait des espaces où chacun vient avec des logiques personnelles dont la somme ne construit pas obligatoirement du collectif. Loin d’être un espace immuable de collaboration et de partage, l’espace de coworking en ville n’est pas seulement un lieu où l’on se rend pour des économies de temps de trajet vers des locaux de bureaux, ou pour avoir des relations sociales. Il est aussi un outil désormais presque indispensable de la fabrique urbaine pour proposer des réponses aux usagers et aux gestionnaires des lieux qui cherchent à maximiser économiquement et/(ou) socialement, les temps de la coprésence. À cet égard il peut être interrogé sur la manière dont il recompose les relations autour du travail.
