L’autoportrait en littérature met en scène et en examen son auteur. Représenterait-il alors le mode d’autorisation par excellence, reposant sur une stratégie poétique qui permettrait de parler de tout et de justifier tous les discours parce qu’ils passent par le filtre d’un soi instable mais omnipotent, qui reconnaît d’avance ses faillites et ses faiblesses comme pour s’en dédouaner si on venait à les remarquer, qui rejette l’autorité des modèles littéraires mais qui assoit la sienne comme levier herméneutique de ses autres textes, qui s’échine à avoir le dernier mot sur son travail ? Si l’autorité de l’autoportraitiste semble limitée au champ de sa propre expérience, elle n’en est pas moins sans effet. Sans statuer sur le succès ou l’infortune de cette autorité, il s’agira ici d’observer certaines stratégies empruntées par l’autoportraitiste pour susciter l’indulgence de son lecteur, par exemple, et d’interroger son rapport à l’autorité des modèles littéraires et à la sienne comme modèle ou grille de lecture.
