SCRIPTA THEOLOGICA 29 (1997/3) simples de análisis: padres conservadores, líneas avanzadas, etc. Hay zonas de opinión y valoraciones más explícitas del autor, de carácter contextual y sociorreligioso más que propiamente teológico, aunque son poco numerosas dentro del conjunto del libro.Resulta una obra de utilidad informativa; pone de relieve la importancia de los temas tratados, su contexto y trascendencia eclesial.La pretensión del A. de ofrecer explicaciones de muchos problemas postconciliares parece, en cambio, más difícil; entre otras cosas porque eso implicaría una obra monumental de análisis de un periodo tan reciente y complejo como el que desea historiar el A. desde la atalaya de los Sínodos.En todo caso, y a falta todavía de la necesaria perspectiva para valorar las tareas sinodales en la Iglesia, sí cabe augurar que los documentos pontificios basados en estas asambleas (piénsese en aquellos más recientes sobre la vida religiosa, los laicos, o la formación de los presbíteros) están marcando unas pautas decisivas en el desarrollo y aplicación del Concilio Vaticano n, pero que sólo el tiempo podrá darnos razón exacta de su peso real.Estamos todavía en fase de su recepción efectiva en la vida pastoral de la Iglesia.Hay que agradecer al A. que haya puesto a disposición del público español tan ingente material, ordenado y resumido.Es una buena contribución a la historia -y a la actualidad-de la Iglesia.
