Cette étude prend pour objet la perception des élèves vis-à-vis d’une situation de classe quasi inédite, pendant la pandémie de Covid-19, dans un lycée français des États-Unis. Au moment de la recherche conduite entre novembre 2020 et avril 2021, le groupe-classe de CM2 (dernière année de l’école élémentaire dans le système français) d’une enseignante, Marion, comprend 21 élèves. Parmi eux, 19 suivent les cours en présentiel tandis que 2 élèves ont été maintenus à la maison par leurs parents et effectuent leur scolarité à distance avec du travail en autoformation (avec Google Classroom) et des temps de cours synchrones (par le dispositif de visioconférence Zoom). Cette situation de comodalité s’est généralisée pendant la crise pandémique et pourrait être appelée à se renouveler. Elle constitue l’un des points de focalisation du projet de recherche « Français Plus ». Sur la base de dessins et d’entretiens d’enfants, notre étude examine la question de ce qui fait l’objet de l’attention des élèves dans une situation où le savoir est fortement médié par la technologie.
