Abstract
O presente artigo pretende discorrer acerca do papel diplomático do Papa Francisco não apenas como líder religioso-católico, mas como um líder que se atenta quanto às questões globais emergentes falando a todos os homens e mulheres de boa vontade para a construção de um “mundo novo”. O ministério pontifício ao longo da história sempre se posicionou ante aos acontecimentos que afetam a vida das pessoas tendo como pré-requisito a construção da paz. Este ainda é um problema contemporâneo com tantos conflitos ao redor do globo e fica evidente que estamos a viver uma “terceira guerra mundial por pedaços”. Atualmente, é inquestionável a crise humanitária no contexto da Guerra entre Rússia e a Ucrânia e, em contrapartida, os esforços da diplomacia pontifícia de Francisco para um cessarfogo e a tentativa de construir a paz em fraternidade mundial com base na valorização da vida e nos valores humano-evangélicos.
