Quantitative CT imaging extracts information that reflects the severity, degree of change, or status of a disease.1 There is growing interest, and scientific evidence, for the use of quantitative CT to improve understanding of disease pathophysiology and prognosis in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).2 In patients with COPD, quantitative CT provides numerous measurements that represent a wide range of pulmonary and extrapulmonary disease features. Therefore, a growing number of studies are investigating the inclusion of quantitative CT into prediction models for COPD outcomes.
