Abstract
La détresse chez le nourrisson occupe une place prépondérante de sa vie émotionnelle et peut s’avérer difficile et exigeante à réguler pour les parents. L’objectif de l’étude est d’examiner les contributions du tempérament du nourrisson et de la sensibilité maternelle (SM) pour expliquer l’intensité de la détresse (ID) manifestée par les nourrissons lors de séparations mère-enfant. La dimension d’affectivité négative du tempérament a été mesurée via un questionnaire complété par la mère à quatre mois. La SM a été évaluée par observation lors de visites à domicile à huit mois. La procédure de séparation parent-enfant a été effectuée auprès de 89 dyades mère-enfant à risque psychosocial modéré lorsque les enfants étaient âgés de 16 mois. Des corrélations bivariées ont révélé un lien significatif entre la SM et l’ID. L’affectivité négative n’était pas associée à l’ID ou la SM, suggérant que lors d’une séparation avec le parent, l’ID est tributaire d’enjeux relationnels associés à la SM. Dans cette perspective, ces résultats permettront de mieux cibler les efforts d’intervention et de guider les parents dans leurs réponses envers leurs enfants.
