Abstract
Cet article propose un état des lieux des recherches en sciences humaines et sociales sur les pesticides réalisées dans la cadre académique français depuis 1945. Les travaux sont présentés à partir d’une mise en perspective historique qui tient compte du contexte agricole, politique, macro-économique et institutionnel dans lequel elles ont été publiées. Les auteures et auteures distinguent deux phases principales : une première (1945-2000) où les pesticides sont principalement appréhendés comme une ressource de la « modernisation » agricole, une seconde (2000-2021) où ils font progressivement l'objet d'un champ d’études à part entière en sciences humaines et sociales, dans lequel ils sont davantage envisagés comme un objet controversé. Cette revue analytique met en lumière la structuration d’une communauté de chercheurs et de chercheures impliquée sur le sujet en France et à l’étranger, et les principaux thèmes approfondis au cours de cette période.
