Abstract
Pericopsis elata est une espèce héliophile à haute valeur commerciale inscrite à l’annexe II de la Convention sur le commerce international des espèces de faune et de flore sauvages menacées d'extinction (CITES). Des expérimentations sylvicoles de cette espèce avaient été initiées par le Centre technique forestier tropical (CTFT) en 1972 et 1975 dans la réserve de la Kienké-Sud (Cameroun) dans le cadre d’un programme de recherche sur la sylviculture par plantation de cette espèce. Deux plantations avaient alors été installées par la méthode de recrû avec des écartements de 3 m × 3 m et 3 m × 4 m. L’objectif de ce travail est d’évaluer sur la base de quatre paramètres structuraux, l’espacement le plus adapté à la sylviculture en plantation de Pericopsis elata suivant la méthode de recrû. Un inventaire exhaustif à 100% a été réalisé dans chaque plantation. Au cours de celui-ci les diamètres et les hauteurs ont été prélevés. Les paramètres structuraux et dendrométriques de chaque plantation ont été analysés. L’espacement initial influence la structure des plantations en affectant la morphologie des tiges et leurs performances en termes de croissance en diamètre. En outre, un espacement trop réduit favorise les inégalités de croissance augmentant ainsi la compétition asymétrique. Ainsi, l’espacement 3 m × 4 m serait le mieux adapté à la sylviculture de Pericopsis elata en plantation suivant la méthode de recrû.
