Abstract
Adriana Monti OMNI TVLo scarto tra la realtà e l'immagine televisiva di un paese aumenta o diminuisce secondo il potere che i vari gruppi sociali quali le donne, la classe lavoratrice, i disabili, i giovani, gli intellettuali e gli anziani hanno di rappresentarsi sul piccolo schermo.È uno spazio difficile da conquistare perché erode quello dei programmi politici e di intrattenimento, creati più per orientare sogni e bisogni della popolazione che per raccontarne le storie.Quando il potere dei gruppi sociali sopra citati diminuisce, il divario tra sogno e realtà aumenta e la televisione diventa uno strumento ideologico in mano al potere politico ed economico di un paese.Dopo aver lavorato per 15 anni nelle televisioni italiane Rai e Canale 5 ho lasciato un'Italia alla deriva nel mare dei sogni per approdare in Nord America alla scoperta del mondo multimediale che si è rivelato deludente per alcuni aspetti e molto gratificante per altri.È stato deludente vedere quanto poco spazio era dedicato alla rappresentazione della comunità italo-canadese sia nelle televisione pubbliche che in quelle private.È stato invece gratificante vedere che nonostante i molti limiti imposti dagli spazi di programmazione l'esperienza delle donne italo-canadesi veniva rappresentata nelle trasmissioni televisive multiculturali dove ho lavorato per quasi nove anni.Rappresentazione sollecitata dalle giornaliste e dai produttori della redazione italiana di OMNI dove su undici persone impiegate a produrre le trasmissioni quotidiane 5 sono donne.Una percentuale molto alta se paragonata ad altre redazioni, una percentuale che determina anche il contenuto dei
