O presente estudo tem por objetivo analisar o plano municipal de turismo, seu processo de elaboração e sua relevância para o desenvolvimento do turismo local no município de Bragança. A análise foi realizada por meio do Estudo de Caso, considerando-se a elaboração do documento, as reuniões participativas e a pesquisa de campo, além da técnica do planejamento estratégico F.O.F.A - forças, oportunidades, fraquezas e ameaças, com objetivo de corrigir possíveis deficiências e planejar e projetar soluções competitivas e mais eficientes. Essa técnica foi desenvolvida no âmbito de uma reunião participativa do Conselho Municipal de Turismo, que congrega o trade do turismo local. Os resultados demonstraram que as elaborações dos planos municipais de turismo, sendo um instrumento de planejamento setorial, seguem um modelo de padrão de planejamento para o turismo, tendo como orientação legal os procedimentos estabelecidos pelo Ministério do Turismo do Brasil. Mas salientam especificidades que geram visões de futuro para a atividade turística do município.Palavras-chave: Planejamento. Plano. Diretrizes. Modelo. Bragança.
