Abstract
Due pubblicazioni freschissime di stampa e di intenzioni ricapitolano forse meglio di ogni altra iniziativa la casistica in cui viene ad inquadrarsi il discorso sulla letteratura d'oltremare, dell'Italia fuori d'Italia.Si tratta di Critical Terms for Literary Study, curato da Frank Lentricchia e Thomas McLaughlin, ' e della rivista Altreitalie, edita a Torino dalla Fondazione Agnelli.Ponendo la voce "ethnicity" accanto ad articoli dedicati ai massimi topoi della critica recente, a concetti quali quello di autore, narrazione, discorso, determinazione eccetera, il volume degli studiosi americani legittima, ufficializza definitivamente un filone di ricerca che in discipline come sociologia, storia, scienze politiche, antropologia ha gia da qualche tempo ormai, negli Stati Uniti, un suo peso.Si puo non essere d'accordo con l'estensore del testo incluso nell'antologia di Lentricchia, ma è innegabile che anche nell'ambito letterario gli ethnic studies siano, per riprendere il giudizio di un altro eminente rappresentante della critica americana, tra quanto ci sia di più "progressive and interesting"?A sua volta, Altreitalie annuncia, fin dal titolo, una suggestivissima inversione di tendenza: il materiale che la madrepatria aveva finora, di solito, depositato nei paraggi del tema dell'emigrazione, quindi dell'idea di separazione, di disgiunzione, sarà nelle sue pagine rivisitato a partire proprio dai suoi rapporti con l'Italia, sarà se così si può dire, restituito alla storia italiana.
