Abstract
For twenty-one years the life of Fr.Riccardo Polticchia was closely interwoven with the life of Toronto's Italian community.From 1936 to 1958 his pastorate, which was interrupted only for one year, made of St. Agnes' Church the point of reference for the thousands of Italian immigrants coming to the city and the prototype for all the churches, clubs and organizations established through the years for the Italian community.We can probably say that Padre Riccardo, as he was familiarly known, became an honorary member of almost every Italian household of Toronto from the depression years to the post-war period.
