This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book analyzes the Muslim ablution ritual of Wudu as being expressed in two mosques in Canada. It relates to Hindu myths about water as expressed in pilgrimage temples from the 18th-century in the Braj region, India. The book introduces the water rituals performed in Judaism in a Mikvah a special bath for purification. It examines archeological findings related to water and the sacred from Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, and Afghanistan. The book demonstrate how the powerful rituals associated with water in West Africa (Nigeria) were carried by the slaves onto America and transformed into a new place. It examines the religious markers inscribed into the landscapes by climate change and its impact on different parts of India. The book investigate modern/current practices and interpretations of water as part of sacred buildings.
