Di dunia pendidikan saat ini pemakaian suatu program komputer sangat membantu dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar. Salah satu program komputer yang paling di kenal dan sering dipakai di dunia pendidikan arsitektur salah satunya adalah program CAD (Computer Aided Design). CAD telah berkembang dengan sangat cepatnya dimulai dari CAD Release 12 dan sampai kini telah berkembang sampai CAD v.2014. Didalam kegiatan belajar mengajar Pembuatan Rencana Anggaran Biaya (RAB) adalah salah satu materi yang cukup sulit untuk di terima secara maksimal. Untuk itulah diperlukan suatu cara yang cukup efektif untuk menjelaskan hal tersebut secara nyata (3 dimensional) dan bukan hanya sekadar gambar 2 dimensional (2D). CAD sangat membantu di dalam dunia arsitektur dimana pekerjaan pembuatan gambar baik dalam bentuk 2 dimensi maupun 3 dimensi. Di dalam bentuk 3 dimensi inilah dunia awam dapat melihat secara jelas bangunan yang sedang direncanakan tersebut. Namun di lain pihak bentuk 3 dimensi ini tidak saja dapat menampilkan gambaran bangunan secara utuh, namun juga dapat menghitung volume pekerjaan dari perencanaan bangunan tersebut.
