Abstract
Introduction: Obstetric violence is a significant problem, affecting women of different socioeconomic and ethnic profiles, and physiotherapy plays an important role in the prevention of obstetric violence, offering information, guidance and physical and emotional care to pregnant women during prenatal care, childbirth and postpartum, aiming at a safer and more respectful assistance.Objective: To demonstrate the importance of physiotherapy in preventing obstetric violence.Method: A systematic literature review of the last 10 years was carried out in the databases of PubMed, LILACS, Scielo, PEDro and MedLine platforms.Results: After searching the databases, 36 studies were found on the studied platforms.30 studies were included for the synthesis of the study, in which they had the inclusion criteria of the study.According to the methodological quality assessment, 7 studies had a score above 6 points, considered as having great potential for evidence.Conclusion: The lack of knowledge of health professionals and pregnant women about the role of physiotherapy is worrying, as well as the lack of regulation in maternity hospitals.It is necessary to invest in education and awareness to combat obstetric violence and ensure complete and qualified care, promoting the health and wellbeing of mothers and babies.
