Abstract
In early spring 2004 I was sitting in a coffee shop in Vancouver with William Raccah talking about the need for a book on Canadian Pentecostals.William encouraged me to develop the idea and now it has become a reality.It was not difficult to find contributors who shared our enthusiasm.Everyone gladly gave of their time to write and rewrite.In October 2006 Trinity Western University hosted a symposium at which the authors presented their chapters to each other.There was a great turnout of scholars and people from across Canada and the United States interested in Pentecostalism.Blaine Charette, Jack Wisemore, and David Wells responded to papers.Roger Stronstad presented new material on his exceptional scholarly work on Luke-Acts.The day was filled with wonderful exchange.The symposium was supported through the Aid to Small Universities program of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada also made a generous grant that was very much appreciated.The grants were used not only to bring everyone together; they also supported a strong network of scholars who continue to engage in research on Pentecostalism.A website was also developed and is hosted by Trinity Western University where resources on Pentecostalism can be accessed by all (www.twu.ca/sites/ cprn/).Jim Lucas of the Canadian Pentecostal Seminary helped facilitate the event.Above all, Laurel Archer must receive much credit.She is an exceptional administrator and the symposium's success was due to her attention to details.
