Abstract
The article discusses the peculiarities of reproductive behavior of the urban population of Kazakhstan in the 20th - early 21st century. on the example of the Kazakh ethnic group. The birth rate of the urban Kazakh population is one of the highest in the post-Soviet space. According to the authors, this is due to the fact that the main socio-cultural parameters affecting demographic processes did not undergo drastic changes in the 19th - 20th centuries.
