Le <i>trash</i> comme réponse au kitsch raciste et colonial: Les <i>Chroniques de Kitchike</i> de Louis-Karl Picard-Sioui

Abstract
Dans un compte rendu publié en 2005 dans Lettres québécoises, Sébastien Lavoie présentait le trash comme l’envers du kitsch. Je précisais ailleurs que le kitsch, qui peut être apparenté à un « mode de vie systémique et normatif, cache le système alors que le trash (le hors-norme, le “bas”) le dévoile » (2019, 60). Dans cet article, je mettrai en relation le kitsch et le trash dans le contexte du recueil de nouvelles Chroniques de Kitchike (2017) de Louis-Karl Picard-Sioui (Wendat). Il sera question d’un sous-genre largement ignoré dans les discours sur le kitsch, le kitsch raciste (Nyong’o 2002), qui entraîne une chosification des cultures autochtones et naturalise l’occupation settler (Trask 1991–1992). Picard-Sioui expose ce kitsch raciste et colonialiste et riposte en mobilisant le trash. Dans ses propres mots, l’écrivain décrit son esthétique trash comme la traduction d’une immense frustration, quelque chose que l’on voit encore très rarement dans les littératures autochtones francophones du Québec. Pour Picard-Sioui, le trash dénote un trop-plein à évacuer par la colère afin de reprendre le contrôle de l’humanité et de l’image, toutes deux subtilisées par le kitsch raciste.
