Abstract
Program pengabdian masyarakat ini dilatarbelakangi oleh memanfaatkan bahan baku yaitu pohon aren yang banyak tumbuh di seputaran hutan di wilayah Sendang Baru Lampung Tengah. Hal ini mendorong masyarakat untuk mampu mendapatkan penghasilan lebih untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan, memberi peluang usaha untuk masyarakat, menumbuhkan jiwa kewirausahaan bagi penduduk pedesaan dengan mengelola usaha yang bersifat mandiri. Peluang usaha ini harus sejalan dengan pengaturan manajemen usaha yang baik. Tidak hanya memanfaatkan komoditas yang ada, tetapi usaha juga harus berjalan baik dan produk yang dihasilkan berkualitas dan memiliki pasar yang jelas. Salah satu cara untuk sekaligus meningkatkan kualitas produk secara cepat dan meningkatkan kepercayaan konsumen terhadap produk gula semut ini adalah dengan mendaftarkan izin usaha dan sertifikasi produk. Dimulai dari Nomor Induk Berusaha (NIB), Penyuluhan Keamanan Pangan (PKP) yang bisa digunakan untuk persyaratan mengajukan Pendaftaran Industri Rumah Tangga (PIRT), serta sertifikasi Halal. Kegiatan ini melibatkan Universitas Bandar Lampung, PT PLN (Persero) UIP Sumatera Selatan dan KWT serta masyarakat Sendang Baru sendiri. Dalam pelaksanaannya menggunakan metode partisipatif, maksudnya adalah melibatkan elemen masyarakat yang tergabung dalam UMKM dan Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) yang ada di desa Sendang Baru, namun pada kenyataan nya di hadiri dari semua perwakilan desa yang ada di Kec, Sendang Baru, ini adalah berkat dari support pihak Kec.Sendang Agung.
