Abstract
Dans les récits d’anticipation, voyager dans le futur, c’est parfois regarder moins en avant qu’en arrière, et donc s’autoriser à porter, sur l’époque d’où proviennent les explorateurs, un regard rétrospectif. À travers deux récits d’Émile Calvet et Louis Boussenard, il s’agit dans cet article d’observer les effets de ce télescopage des temporalités, tant sur le déroulement du récit (la présence du passé parasite la puissance d’émerveillement du novum), que sur les processus d’évaluation qu’il met en place : ce qui est en jeu, associant des procédés satiriques et une réflexion épistémologique sur la science, c’est la manière dont le XIXe siècle se pense, en termes de valeurs et d’héritage. La fin de l’article propose ensuite, en élargissant le corpus à des textes plus récents, d’étudier les variations et l’évolution de ces procédés, souvent marqués par la légèreté et l’humour, mais qui peuvent parfois former le lieu d’une véritable prise de conscience.
