Abstract
Cet article explore les facteurs qui influencent la couverture en ligne de l’actualité politique. En s’appuyant sur le cas des affaires européennes, l’étude cherche à examiner la capacité des médias en ligne de renforcer le pluralisme politique dans la couverture médiatique des enjeux politiques. L’étude prend appui sur des approches qui appréhendent la numérisation des médias dans son contexte sociétal. Celle-ci consiste à reconnaitre la subjectivité de la mise en œuvre des nouvelles technologies de l’information et de la communication. Ce questionnement théorique est examiné empiriquement dans le contexte médiatique chypriote. L’analyse approche la production médiatique sur deux niveaux différents : (a) le niveau du message et (b) le niveau du processus de production. L'article soutient qu'il existe une logique managériale dans la mise en œuvre de la technologie numérique. Les médias en ligne n’utilisent pas les potentialités d’Internet afin de bénéficier d’une couverture compréhensive. Au contraire, ils exploitent le potentiel du numérique pour réduire leurs investissements aussi bien en personnel qu’en temps de couverture pour les sujets qui sont considérés comme peu lucratifs.
