O avanço tecnológico na obtenção de fontes de energia tem sido motivado particularmente pelas novas descobertas de reservas de petróleo e gás natural. Nas linhas dutoviárias onshore e offshore, instaladas para condução ou prospecção desses insumos, a presença de uma trinca pode ter consequências drásticas, não só econômicas e ambientais, mas à vida de pessoas que trabalham ou moram próximas às instalações. Tais trincas podem originar-se por fadiga decorrentes do transporte dos tubos ou devido às correntes marítimas nas instalações offshore em operação, potencializadas pelo ambiente corrosivo e pelas altas pressões da coluna de água, o que tem despertado o interesse da comunidade científica e estabelecido uma nova linha de pesquisa no setor de O&G. Este trabalho tem por objetivo conhecer o comportamento em fadiga de espécimes retirados de um tubo de aço da classe API 5CT N80Q soldado por resistência elétrica de alta frequência (HF/ERW), empregado em dutos submarinos para transporte de óleo e gás. Os resultados obtidos demonstraram o excelente comportamento em fadiga do aço API N80Q, com destaque para a resistência à fadiga acima de sua tensão de escoamento, o que revela sua alta capacidade de endurecimento por deformação.
