REGISTRATIONS 1825 (91%) and not significantly different from AC Rifle (89%), Musketeer (81%), and Prima (80%), the most cold tolerant cultivars.Plant height of AC Remington (88 cm) was significantly shorter (P < 0.05) than that of the conventional height cultivars (113 cm) and similar to that of AC Rifle (85 cm).Lodging resistance of AC Remington was significantly greater than that of all the conventional check cultivars and equal to that of AC Rifle.The Hagberg falling number of AC Remington (188 s) was significantly greater (P < 0.05) than that of AC Rifle (169 s), Kodiak (168 s) and Musketeer (154 s) and equal to that of Prima (179 s).Thus it is one of the most suitable of Canadian cultivars available for bread making purposes.More detailed information can be found elsewhere (5).AC Remington has a low frequency of tall plants, similar to that of AC Rifle.The frequency of tall plants will increase if they are not removed in each generation.This is a typical characteristic of all semidwarf, open-pollinated cultivars.Percentage ergot infection [caused by Claviceps purpurea (Fr.:Fr.)Tul.J of AC Remington (0.66%) was similar to that of the check cultivars AC Rifle, Kodiak, and Prima, and significantly less than that of Musketeer (1.15%).Shattering was visually rated equal to AC Rifle and less than Prima, Musketeer and Kodiak.The spikes are awned, erect, lax, medium length, elliptical and glaucous.The glumes are lanceolate and white.
