Abstract
A Sndrome Braquiceflica compe-se de uma ou mais combinaes de anormalidades anatmicas e funcionais provocando sinais de obstruo de vias areas devido a conformao do crnio desses animais. Dentro dessas anormalidades esto estenose das narinas, prolongamento do palato mole, aumento das tonsilas, sculos larngeos evertidos, estreitamento da glote, hipoplasia de traqueia, colapso de laringe ou traqueia. Os animais podem apresentar estas patologias de forma isolada ou combinada e em diversos graus. OBJETIVOS: Visar a importncia da correo cirrgica das anormalidades para uma melhor qualidade de vida ao animal. METODOLOGIA: Apesar do tratamento cirrgico ser o mtodo mais eficaz para a correo da sndrome, o tutor pode optar por seguir o tratamento paliativo clnico, que consiste na conduta de evitar estmulos estressantes, locais muito quentes, exerccios fsicos exacerbados e sobrepeso. J o tratamento cirrgico da sndrome deve ser tratada de cranial para ventral, a fim de evitar cirurgias mais invasivas. Portanto, a estenose das narinas o primeiro passo a ser modificado podendo prevenir mudanas secundrias, como protruso do tecido mole da nasofaringe ou colapso da laringe e traqueia. O prolongamento de palato deve ser corrigido para prevenir interferncia com epiglote. A everso dos sacos larngeos e o colapso larngeo so sequelas de estenoses mais rostrais. A everso dos sculos larngeos removida com tesouras longas. RESULTADOS: O prognstico depende da idade do animal quando foi operado e o quo gravemente
