Abstract
Tem sido comprovado cientificamente que os adesivos para próteses são excelentes opções para os pacientes edêntulos, proporcionando maior conforto e aprimorando o desempenho da função. O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar a influência do uso dos adesivos para próteses dentárias na eficácia mastigatória de usuários de próteses totais removíveis. Os estudos foram incluídos nessa revisão sistematizada de acordo com as recomendações da declaração PRISMA, seguindo os parâmetros PICOS. Foi realizada uma ampla pesquisa bibliográfica até 7 de março de 2023 nas seguintes bases de dados: MEDLINE (PubMed), Scopus e Embase, utilizando os descritores "Masticatory performance", "Masticatory functions, “Complete denture", Adhesives, "Denture adhesive". Os dados dos estudos incluídos foram compilados e organizados de acordo com as características do estudo. A estratégia de pesquisa inicial recuperou um total de 390 títulos e resumos, sendo 28 elegíveis para análise de texto completo, dos quais 12 foram incluídos na revisão. De maneira geral, todos os estudos mostraram que existe uma influência do uso dos adesivos para próteses dentárias na eficácia mastigatória de usuários de próteses totais removíveis. Concluiu-se que o uso de adesivo protético influencia positivamente na eficácia mastigatória de usuários de próteses totais removíveis.
