La Fédération des écoles privées du Québec en collaboration avec le projet Penser historiquement pour l’avenir du Canada a entamé un processus de rédaction d’une épreuve évaluative pour le cours d’histoire de 3e secondaire. Lors de rencontres de travail, l’équipe de recherche, composée d’enseignants, de chercheuses et d’un conseiller pédagogique, a formulé un premier prototype de tâche sous le thème des voyages de Jacques Cartier. Après l’administration de l’épreuve aux élèves par les enseignants, nous avons analysé les copies, ce qui a fait ressortir les critères auxquels les enseignants accordent de l’importance lors de l’évaluation. Enfin, nous pouvons conclure que ces critères peuvent non seulement être très spécifiques, mais aussi être basés sur des techniques propres à la science historique. Or, a priori, les enseignants rencontrés expriment que ces critères doivent être larges, ce qui les poussent à opter pour une grille d’évaluation laissant une grande place aux différentes interprétations.
