Abstract
Cet ouvrage contient les résumés des débats et les conclusions du Sommet mondial de l’écotourisme et de ses conférences préparatoires, ainsi que la Déclaration de Québec sur l’écotourisme.Le Sommet mondial de l’écotourisme, principale manifestation organisée pour marquer l’Année internationale de l’écotourisme, s’est tenu du 19 au 22 mai 2002 à Québec, au Canada.Ce sommet, initiative de l’Organisation mondiale du tourisme (OMT) et du Programme des Nations Unies pour l’environnement (PNUE), avait pour organismes hôtes Tourisme Québec et la Commission canadienne du tourisme. Ces quatre institutions étaient les partenaires responsables du sommet.Le but était de rassembler les gouvernements, les organismes internationaux, les ONG, les entreprises touristiques, les représentants des communautés locales et des communautés autochtones, les établissements universitaires et diverses personnes s’intéressant à l’écotourisme et de leur permettre d’échanger leurs expériences et de se mettre d’accord sur quelques principes et priorités bien définis relatifs au développement et à la gestion de l’écotourisme dans l’avenir.
