Abstract
c'est l'unité de réassurance de ING que Berkhire Hataway a racheté pour 300 millions d'euros.Le groupe Berkshire Hataway, fondé aux États-Unis il y a quarante ans en 1967, grâce à l'achat pour 8,6 millions de dollars, à l'époque, de National Indemnity et de National Fire & Marine, a engrangé, en 2007, 5 milliards de primes, sans compter les opérations qui étaient autrefois rattachées au Lloyd's.La société emblématique du groupe américain dans la réassurance est General Re qui a émis l'an dernier 3,5 milliards de primes en assurance de dommages et 2,4 milliards en assurance de personnes.Les revenus nets de Berkshire Hataway ont baissé de 18 % au dernier trimestre de 2008, passant de 3,5 milliards de dollars à 2,9 milliards de dollars par rapport au trimestre correspondant l'année dernière.Mentionnons également que le grand marché britannique Lloyd's a annoncé une capacité de souscription de 31,6 milliards de dollars en 2008, équivalente à celle de 2007.Cette capacité regrouperait quelque 75 syndicats du Lloyd's.Gonflé par des conditions de souscription profitables et une sinistralité faible en terme de catastrophes naturelles, le Lloyd's a annoncé au début d'avril un bénéfice net de 7,6 milliards de dollars en 2007, par rapport à 7,2 milliards l'an dernier.Le ratio combiné s'est situé à 84,0 % en 2007 par rapport à 83,1 % en 2006.Il a engrangé des réserves (surplus reserves) de 1,7 milliard de dollars en 2007 par rapport à 536 millions l'année précédente.
