Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

[Chapter XIII. Comprehensive scores and summary of interview results] In Chapter XIII of The Authoritarian Personality , Else Frenkel-Brunswik evaluates the interviews conducted by the project’s research assistants. While Adorno’s typology in Chapter XIX, also included in this journal issue, encompasses a set of syndromes (or characters), Frenkel-Brunswik here seeks rather to understand the overall differences between the most and the least prejudiced: how they orient themselves in both intimate relationships and generally in society, and in their ability to endure and deal with ambiguous situations. In the Freudian tradition, she discusses at length how relationships with parents in early childhood influence later attitudes, as well as the ability for creative and independent thinking. In this she also uses results from her own research on how children’s attitudes are formed at an early age. The text also demonstrates Frenkel-Brunswik’s methodological rigor, which derives from her schooling in the vicinity of the logical positivists of the Vienna Circle. Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
