PDF | Este trabalho tem por objetivo modelar e simular o escoamento de ferro-gusa e ar no canal de alto-forno sem considerar a escória, procurando detalhes que possam correlacionar a fluido-dinâmica com o processo de desgaste do revestimento refratário que ocorre durante a operação do canal. O modelo matemático empregado é o modelo de dois fluidos (Euleriano- Euleriano), considerando o escoamento tridimensional, em regime transiente e com superfície livre. A abordagem da turbulência é feita por meio da formulação a zero equação. A solução do sistema de equações diferenciais é obtida numericamente no simulador Ansys CFX 10.0 ® e então comparada aos resultados da literatura para a sua validação. Os resultados demonstraram muito boa concordância com os reportados em outros trabalhos e, da mesma forma, indicam que o processo corrosivo é o principal fator no processo de desgaste, facilitado por um bom regime de mistura e tensões cisalhantes que, em tempos maiores, mesmo com baixas magnitudes, podem contribuir para a remoção de uma camada reativa mais frágil e permeável expondo o refratário a um novo ataque químico. Esta convergência de resultados possibilitou a validação do modelo. Espera-se com este trabalho melhorar o entendimento do fenômeno, direcionando estudos futuros nos problemas de desgaste e separação, tanto no que concerne ao modelamento físico e matemático quanto à solução numérica deste último.
