O presente artigo se propõe, por intermédio de uma revisão bibliográfica, a realizar uma discussão sobre como a questão do abastecimento alimentar é uma questão central e ao mesmo tempo uma expressão da atuação de mecanismos liberais de governo que posteriormente é entendido como objeto dos efeitos do neoliberalismo conformando um regime alimentar compreendido como corporativista, porque, o controle e o poder que as corporações detém sobre a circulação e distribuição dos alimentos no mundo são sua expressão máxima, fazendo do alimento antes de qualquer valor de uso, uma mercadoria. Com base nas ideias de Michael Foucault Laval e Krauser sobre as mudanças nas formas de governar, compreendemos o surgimento e o funcionamento dos mecanismos de segurança. Focamos o debate na problematização e no desenvolvimento das formas de governar em relação ao mercado e seus mecanismos de ação, a partir da compreensão de Michel Foucault, com a sua correlação com os regimes alimentares, expressando assim a centralidade dessa questão em cada período histórico e incitando o estudo desta problemática na atualidade com questões envolvendo fome, insegurança alimentar e soberania alimentar.
