Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The article discusses the problems of forming patriotic education for prisoners. The author notes that after the «oblivion» of patriotic ideology in the 90s of the last century, in the first quarter of the current century in Russia there is a growth in national self-awareness, and patriotism has regained its important place in the system of social values, which is especially in demand in the new realities of international relations and threats to Russians security emanating from the «collective West». Currently, considerable regard is paid to the patriotic education of citizens, but the penal system, unfortunately, remains aloof from such processes. The need to supplement educational work with convicts with patriotic education has been repeatedly pointed out in penitentiary science, however, not a word is said about patriotic education of convicts in the «Concept of the development of the penal system until 2030». The author believes that effective forms and methods of forming patriotic education of prisoners in correctional institutions places are currently in demand, excluding formalism and a template approach, taking into account the specifics of those sentenced to imprisonment as a special social stratum requiring specific stimulation.
