L’intervention au sein des services de protection de la jeunesse (PJ) est influencée par différents discours et paradigmes d’intervention auxquels sont associées des injonctions qui peuvent ou non être en contradiction. Cet article vise à répondre à la question suivante : comment les personnes qui oeuvrent à la PJ font-elles face aux contradictions qui existent entre les différents discours qui influencent les pratiques dans les situations de mauvais traitements psychologiques ? Douze entrevues semi-dirigées ont été réalisées auprès des personnes oeuvrant aux différentes étapes de l’intervention de la PJ. Les résultats des analyses qualitatives montrent plusieurs contradictions entre le discours professionnel et les impératifs associés au discours légal et managérial. Plusieurs contradictions ont aussi été identifiées en lien avec le discours féministe dans les situations d’exposition à la violence conjugale. Nous nous penchons sur les modalités de coexistence des divers discours mis en oeuvre par les personnes rencontrées ainsi que sur leurs implications pratiques et théoriques. Nous discutons enfin des implications de l’impasse dialogique constatée entre les discours dominants, le discours professionnel et le discours féministe.
