Abstract
Este reporte es una continuación del trabajo publicado hace una década sobre el estado de los especímenes asignados en la literatura y en los registros de museos al perezoso megaloníquido Eucholoeops de la Formación Santa Cruz (Mioceno Temprano–Medio; ∼ 18 a 15.6 Ma, Edad Santacrucense) de la Patagonia argentina. En el artículo anterior se concluyó que las especies E. latirostris, E. externus y E. curtus son sinónimos junior de E. ingens, pero los autores no pudieron analizar otras especies y restos asignados a este género. El análisis de estas otras especies y restos aquí presentados sugiere que E. fronto y E. lafonei son también sinónimos junior de E. ingens. Este trabajo incluye un espécimen recientemente recuperado en el campo de E. ingens que conserva, por primera vez, un ectotimpánico de Eucholoeops. Además de los rasgos anatómicos, principalmente craneales, analizados aquí, el análisis de los restos postcraneales indica que los cóndilos articulares distales medial y lateral del fémur son contiguos a la tróclea rotuliana, en contraste con la condición previamente reportada de un cóndilo articular lateral separado. Los autores concluyen además que varias características de E. latifrons sugieren que esta especie es distinta de E. ingens y que algunos especímenes asignados en la literatura a E. ingens no pueden ser asignados con confianza.
