Tabagismo em associação com a lombalgia: revisão integrativa

O artigo objetiva estudar os dados da literatura que abordam o tabagismo como fator de risco para a lombalgia, seu nível de intensidade e a prevalência da dependência da nicotina entre os pacientes com essa queixa. Esse estudo é caracterizado como uma revisão integrativa da literatura, com dados retirados de artigos dos últimos 5 anos das bases de dados Scielo, Lilacs, PubMed e UpToDate. Ao todo, foram encontrados 58 artigos e 7 selecionados e, posteriormente, submetidos a leitura minuciosa em que as informações pertinentes ao tema foram utilizadas. Os resultados observados em 5 artigos foram que o tabagismo confere fator de risco para desenvolvimento de lombalgia, sendo analisado como um fator predisponente (p= 0,006) e sua cessação diminui o risco de doenças associadas ao tabaco. Porém, 2 estudos mostraram que não houve correlação ou associação significativa entre a dor lombar e ser fumante (p<0,877). Conclui-se, portanto, que, apesar de haver evidências robustas da correlação entre o tabagismo e a dor lombar, há escassez de artigos sobre o tema e são necessários mais estudos que corroborem para sua análise.
