A síndrome de burnout tem se tornado cada vez mais frequente nos processos laborais. Trata-se de uma patologia que provoca angústia emocional e estresse nos indivíduos, acarretando o cansaço físico e psíquico, que por sua vez afeta a execução do trabalho. Identificar a ocorrência da síndrome de burnout em professores de uma escola pública, traçando seu perfil sociodemográfico e verificando os fatores associados ao surgimento da síndrome. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, de abordagem quantitativa, realizado com professores de uma escola pública de referência no interior de Pernambuco. Para obtenção dos dados foram utilizados um questionário semiestruturado elaborado pelos pesquisadores para a investigação das variáveis sociodemográficas e o Questionário Jbeili, que é utilizado para detectar precocemente a síndrome de burnout. Os dados foram digitados e codificados em planilhas e, em seguida, transportados para o programa estatístico Stata, versão 14.0. A amostra foi composta por 13 professores, a maioria (61,5%) era do sexo feminino, casados, com ensino superior completo, a média de atuação como docente foi a mínima de 2 meses e máxima de 22 anos. Observou-se que a maioria (53,8%) estava na fase inicial da síndrome de burnout e em (23,8%) a síndrome já estava começando a se instalar. A alta prevalência da síndrome de burnout evidenciada pelo estudo demonstra a necessidade de discutir a saúde destes trabalhadores, pondo em prática medidas que promovam sua qualidade de vida e que tornem o ambiente de trabalho menos exaustivo.
