Le problème du concept de subversion, qu’on l’applique à la traduction, à la traductologie, ou à toute autre question, est qu’il incite à sa propre subversion. C’est ce à quoi cette contribution tente, modestement, de contribuer, en utilisant différentes focales. Nous entamons cette réflexion sur une note optimiste, en posant que la traduction, en ceci qu’elle apporte une part de nouveauté, est d’emblée une opération subversive. Elle n’en est pas moins, l’observation le prouve, une école de conformisme, dans laquelle prospèrent de faux subversifs qui n’ont souvent pas même conscience de leur propre sujétion à un ordre. Cette contradiction intrinsèque nécessite donc d’articuler trois outils de décision : l’éthique, la déontologie, la morale. Car il importe aussi d’être conscient des dangers d’une attitude qui valoriserait exagérément les actes de subversion en traduction en établissant un clivage entre la pratique et la réflexion sur la pratique. Enfin, il est difficile de ne pas transposer cette problématique dans notre rapport à l’intelligence artificielle. In fine, le thème de la subversion soulève donc, en traduction et en traductologie, trois questions : au service de qui imaginons-nous être?; pourquoi faudrait-il que nous nous sentions inférieurs?; la subversion n’est-elle pas finalement, en traductologie, un concept à remiser au même endroit que la fidélité et la trahison?
