L’insertion professionnelle des enseignantes et enseignants d’origine immigrante et des minorités visibles en contexte francophone et immersif en Alberta

Abstract
Cette recherche exploratoire examine l’insertion professionnelle du personnel enseignant débutant d’origine immigrante dans le contexte francophone scolaire albertain. Les défis mentionnés par ces enseignantes et enseignants sont tributaires de leur statut d’enseignantes et d’enseignants débutants et de triple minorité. Leur insertion professionnelle convoque un processus de (re)construction de l’identité professionnelle et de soi leur permettant de s’adapter à un milieu scolaire et une culture éducative différente. Si l’idéal pour ces participantes et ces participants était d’enseigner en contexte scolaire francophone, la recherche indique que la majorité a obtenu un premier poste d’enseignement dans les programmes d’immersion française gérés par les conseils scolaires anglophones; très peu ont obtenu un poste dans le secteur scolaire francophone. Les participantes et participants reçoivent un certain soutien à l’entrée en poste, mais celui-ci n’est ni généralisé ni spécifique. Le jumelage avec un mentor d’expérience ayant une affinité avec le processus migratoire est apprécié par les participantes et participants qui se sentent appuyés et compris. De plus, l’accueil par les pairs et la direction d’école ont des effets positifs à l’entrée en poste. Cependant, l’accueil, l’ouverture et le soutien varient selon le contexte scolaire et la culture de l’école. Des recherches longitudinales et comparatives sont nécessaires pour cerner le cheminement des enseignantes et enseignants francophones d’origine immigrante dans la profession enseignante en Alberta.
