Dans le bassin Arctique, l’océan et la banquise sont en interaction constante, suscitant des interrogations sur le rôle de l’océan dans les changements qui affectent la glace de mer. Les tourbillons de mésoéchelle pourraient représenter un mécanisme océanique qui influence les conditions de glace de mer et leur changement.Dans ce manuscrit de thèse, j’utilise des outils variés et complémentaires comprenant des données d’observation ainsi qu’une simulation à haute résolution afin de comprendre comment interagissent la glace de mer et les tourbillons océaniques de mésoéchelle en Arctique. L’analyse des données in situ sur la période 2004-2019 permet de quantifier les processus d’interactions dynamiques et thermodynamiques, et suggère que les tourbillons pourraient laisser une signature dans la vorticité de la glace de mer. Cette signature est par la suite isolée pour un tourbillon se propageant dans la zone marginale du bassin Canadien, grâce à la combinaison de données in situ et d’images SAR et à une nouvelle méthode de détection basée sur la vorticité de la glace.Enfin, je m’attache à quantifier cette interaction dynamique à l’échelle du bassin Arctique à l’aide d’une simulation à haute résolution basée sur le modèle couplé NEMO-LIM 3.5. Une analyse sur vingt ans montre un impact et une signature de la dynamique de mésoéchelle proéminents dans les régions marginales du bassin Arctique, mais absents dans la banquise compacte, où l’influence de l’atmosphère est dominante.
