Abstract
De acordo com a Organização Mundial da Saúde a adolescência é a fase da vida compreendida entre 10 e 19 anos, período em que o corpo passa por várias mudanças, é a transição da infância para a idade adulta.Como em todas as fases da vida a alimentação é essencial para suprir as necessidades nutricionais e constitui-se em importante ferramenta para a manutenção do peso corporal adequado e o desenvolvimento normal das massas óssea e muscular.Dessa forma a adoção de hábitos alimentares 60 EDUCAÇÃO ALIMENTAR E NUTRICIONAL: ESTRUTURAÇÃO E REALIZAÇÃO DE PRÁTICAS EDUCATIVAS, VOL. 1 CAPÍTULO 7saudáveis são necessários para possibilitar crescimento e desenvolvimento adequados e níveis satisfatórios de qualidade de vida.Entretanto, o adolescente geralmente tem importantes inadequações em seu comportamento alimentar, especialmente pelo elevado consumo de lanches com alto teor de gordura e açúcar açúcares.Considerando estas características peculiares dos hábitos alimentares de adolescentes, se faz necessário a realização de intervenções educativas com vistas a reverter estas inadequações, prevenir doenças crônicas e promover a saúde deste público tão vulnerável.A ação educativa foi desenvolvida com alunos de 14 a 19 anos de escola pública da cidade de Picos-Pi com o objetivo de orientar sobre a importância da alimentação saudável na prevenção de doenças crônicas.Para a execução da atividade foram utilizadas exposição dialogada com auxílio de cartazes, distribuição de folder educativo e "brindes".
