En esta intervención busco problematizar lo que se entiende por "geografía Indígena" -en Chile -cuando se interpreta como una subdisciplina geográfica, practicada por geógrafos expertos, sobre Indígenas retratados como "otros" subalternos.No quisiera que este cuestionamiento se lea como un llamado a que "solo los Indígenas pueden hacer geografía Indígena."Simplemente invito a cuestionar la práctica de esa geografía Indígena como una especie de "geografía de los otros sin los otros" (Wainwright 2008).Ello, en la medida que, a pesar de las buenas intenciones emancipadoras que pueden desplegarse desde posiciones críticas, la geografía está estructuralmente limitada por su origen y dinámicas colonizadoras de reproducción en espacios académicos privilegiados (de Leeuw y Hunt 2018).Me gustaría comenzar clarificando que no soy Indígena y, por lo tanto, no me resulta cómodo reflexionar sobre las preguntas que me han formulado los organizadores de este foro.Experimento esta sensación justo en una etapa de mi carrera en la que constantemente reflexiono sobre lo que he enunciado al iniciar mi intervención: ¿Qué hago yo, un no-Indígena, con la autoridad que me inviste el ser académico de una universidad estatal, con un alto porcentaje de estudiantes Indígenas y localizada en territorio Aymara, hablando sobre geografías Indígenas?Quisiera pensar que la invitación a participar en este panel se debe a que, como académico, mi agenda ha girado en los últimos años predominantemente en torno a la relación entre sociedad y naturaleza, con énfasis en el cómo los pueblos andinos gestionan, luchan, articulan sus identidades y se organizan en torno al acceso a los recursos naturales dentro de una economía política neoliberal y extractivista.Sin embargo, dudo que lo anterior me permita decir que practico una geografía Indígena -entendida como una subdisciplina.En efecto, nunca he sentido que hago geografía Indígena, y tampoco pretendo hacerla.Me sitúo y me reconozco como un académico que aspira a hacer geografía crítica,
