Abstract
Dans l’ensemble des territoires portugais d’Afrique, les mouvements révolutionnaires d’inspiration communiste qui ont mené, à partir du début des années 1960, la lutte armée contre l’Empire portugais ont fait de l’émancipation des femmes un axe central de leur lutte anticoloniale. La promotion de l’émancipation féminine est particulièrement marquée au Mozambique, où, sous l’égide du Front de libération du Mozambique (FRELIMO), d’importantes initiatives sont menées pour affranchir les femmes de l’oppression patriarcale, tant coloniale que traditionnelle. A travers l’évolution de la lutte de libération nationale au Mozambique, il apparaît que le développement d’une rhétorique prônant l’émancipation féminine au sein du mouvement de libération répond à la fois à une nécessité pour le FRELIMO et à une exigence des militantes, en plus d’être en cohérence avec l’idéologie socialiste radicale qui s’est imposée progressivement au sein du mouvement. La dimension socialiste révolutionnaire de la lutte anticoloniale menée au Mozambique favorisa ainsi l’émergence d’un discours prônant l’émancipation des femmes, ainsi que la mise en application de transformations sociales qui, malgré leurs limites, se sont inscrites en rupture avec les systèmes sociaux patriarcaux traditionnels et coloniaux.
