Abstract. UNESCO's World Heritage Criteria is a guideline for the nomination of a cultural heritage to the World Heritage list, which aims to identify, protect, preserve, present and transmit cultural and natural heritage that has Outstanding Universal Value to future generations. Penyengat Island Cultural Heritage Area is one of the cultural heritage areas that is rich in Malay cultural heritage in the form of objects (tangible cultural heritage) ranging from sites, buildings and man-made historical structures as well as intangible cultural heritage (intangible cultural heritage) such as oral traditions, performing arts, customs. community customs, beliefs, celebrations, knowledge and behavioral habits regarding nature and the universe, and traditional craft skills. The status of the Penyengat Island Cultural Heritage Area has now become a National Cultural Heritage Object so that it can be nominated to become a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. Therefore, the author identified the Penyengat Island Cultural Heritage Area by assessing World Heritage criteria. The aim of this research is to identify the Penyengat Island Cultural Heritage Area according to UNESCO criteria. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis with a hermeneutical and empirical approach. From the results of the analysis it was found that the Penyengat Island cultural heritage area did not meet the assessment criteria for integrity, authenticity as well as protection and management. Kriteria World Heritage UNESCO adalah sebagai pedoman untuk pencalonan suatu warisan budaya ke dalam daftar Warisan Dunia yang didalamnya bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi, melindungi, melestarikan, menyajikan dan meneruskan warisan budaya dan alam yang memiliki Nilai Universal yang Luar Biasa kepada generasi mendatang. Kawasan Cagar Budaya Pulau Penyengat adalah salah satu warisan budaya yang kaya akan warisan budaya melayu berupa benda (tangible cultural heritage) mulai dari situs, bangunan dan struktur bersejarah buatan manusia serta warisan budaya takbenda (intangible cultural heritage) seperti tradisi lisan, seni pertunjukan, adat istiadat masyarakat, kepercayaan, perayaan-perayaan, pengetahuan dan kebiasaan perilaku mengenai alam dan semesta, dan kemahiran kerajinan tradisional. Status Kawasan Cagar Budaya Pulau Penyengat saat ini telah menjadi Objek Cagar Budaya peringkat Nasional sehingga dapat dinominasikan untuk menjadi Warisan Budaya Dunia UNESCO. Maka dari itu penulis mengidentifikasi Kawasan Cagar Budaya Pulau Penyengat dengan penilaian kriteria World Heritage. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi Kawasan Cagar Budaya Pulau Penyengat menurut kriteria UNESCO. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis deskrptif dengan pendekatan Hermeneutika dan Interdisipliner. Dari hasil analisis didapatkan bahwa Kawasan Cagar budaya Pulau Penyengat tidak memenuhi penilaian kriteria integritas, keaslian serta perlindungan dan pengelolaan.
