O presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar a importância da qualificação docente para uma educação inclusiva significativa na rede pública de ensino. Caminhos com grandes desafios estão sendo encontrados para que a educação inclusiva seja realmente efetivada, entre eles destaca-se a formação de professores. Diante disso, alguns questionamentos fazem-se necessários: qual a importância da qualificação docente para a educação inclusiva? Quais os impactos causados pelo despreparo docente na formação dos alunos com deficiência? A inclusão está presente nas escolas públicas, para além das legislações? Pretendemos analisar tais prerrogativas com enfoque na atuação docente e sua qualificação profissional, frente as demandas exigidas na atualidade nas escolas públicas brasileiras visando uma educação inclusiva. O trabalho foi elaborado através da abordagem qualitativa, tendo como base a pesquisa bibliográfica, realizada a partir da contribuição do livro de Montoan (2003), “Inclusão Escolar: O que é? Por quê? Como fazer?”; e em sites de órgãos governamentais com a Lei de Diretrizes e Bases da Educação Nacional (1996), as Diretrizes Nacionais para a Educação Especial na Educação Básica (2001), a Política Nacional de Educação Especial (1994), o Decreto nº 6.571/2008, entre outros. Esse artigo fundamenta-se a partir das contribuições de Mantoan (2003), Bueno (1999), Nóvoa (1995), dentre outros autores. Com esta pesquisa concluímos que as escolas da rede pública e seus educadores devem garantir a inclusão social valorizando a pluralidade existente no contexto educacional, de acordo com as necessidades individuais dos estudantes, de modo a beneficiar todos os alunos presentes na sala de aula, para isso é preciso haver políticas públicas efetivas, acessibilidade nas escolas e capacitação docente.
